Communicating and engaging with Indigenous Australians in ethical and culturally respectful ways is crucial in design projects that draw on their cultures, stories, or imagery. This respect acknowledges the deep, enduring connection Indigenous Australians have to their land, languages, and traditions, as well as their unique contributions to art and storytelling.

For example, if I were designing a game set in Australia or incorporating elements inspired by Indigenous culture, I would seek guidance from Indigenous artists and community leaders to ensure accurate representation. This approach not only prevents cultural misappropriation but also enriches the work by incorporating authentic perspectives.

By fostering genuine, respectful collaboration, I can create designs that celebrate and honour Indigenous cultures, rather than unintentionally reinforcing harmful stereotypes or exploiting cultural symbols. Ultimately, this practice builds trust, supports cultural preservation, and contributes to a more inclusive and diverse creative industry.
